Update for Friday, October 24, 2014:  Past Peak

Fall has come and gone in the Great North Woods region. Despite some remaining faded rusts and browns in the lower elevations, and occasional yellows in the far hillsides, the area is past peak and most of the leaves are on the ground. But the lack of leaves means the views are wide open now. So instead of searching for fall color, you can head out for some moose spotting! Wildlife watchers will want to try Route 3 from Colebrook to Pittsburg or Route 26 through Dixville Notch. Just be sure to use caution and keep your distance as you view these majestic animals.
