Update for Friday, October 17, 2014:  Past Peak

Even though the Great North Woods region is past peak now, there are still glimpses of yellow and gold to be seen off in the mountains. The trees in the villages and towns have dropped most of their leaves, providing nice clear views through to the mountain ranges in the distance, so be sure to bring a camera! This is also a great time to go hiking in the region, as the views are wide open and the air is crisp and clean. Routes 3, 16, and 26 are all great scenic drives that take you past hiking trails, covered bridges and waterfalls.
