SPRING/MAPLE SUGARING

The mercury may be rising but room rates are still low, which makes spring the perfect time to get away for a night or two. Our innkeepers will spoil you with breakfasts smothered in local maple syrup! And after a day of exploring, shopping or spring skiing, you'll have every reason to indulge in a spa treatment or sample some classic New England cuisine.

The maple season usually lasts about 4-6 weeks, although the days and length of the sap runs depend entirely on the weather. Maple sugaring time in New Hampshire occurs from mid-February to mid-April. During those weeks, the New Hampshire maple industry produces close to 90,000 gallons of maple syrup.

For detailed information on maple sugaring and a complete list of sugar houses in New Hampshire, please visit the New Hampshire Maple Producers' Association.

Please use the search boxes below to complete a comprehensive attraction search. You may sort by any combination of attraction type, region, city or town.

Maple sugar's a sure sign of Spring!
When the snow starts melting the warmer days and cooler nights are hinting of spring & summer. The Maple tree sap runs wild and what remains of Old Man Winter's grip begins to loosens. This in between time forms "Mud Season, but a sweet get-away can still be found! We know you need to get out of the house and we can help! Come on up to North and visit the Bisson's Sugar House, in the Great North Woods of NH combined with a stay at the Lodge The sugar house visit includes a tour with a discussion about the works of Maple Tree sap and the process of getting to Maple Syrup, candy and butter – Most days you get to see some of this happen right at the sugar house, depending on the weather & Mother Natures timing you can catch them boiling the sap to sweetness. Guests will receive a quart or half gallon (your choose) of pure NH Sweetness from our friends Lucien and Muriel who own the sugar house prior to your departure. Feel free to visit their website directly at: www.bissonssugarhouse.com Your drive north through Franconia Notch and the Northern tier of the White Mountains region and into the Great North Woods brings you alongside the MOST picturesque scene of the Presidential Mountain range along NH's Route 2 - Be sure to bring the camera and an extra battery – Often the beautiful days provide for a perfect northern face picture of Adams, Madison, Jefferson and of course Mount Washington from the road side pull out – Also be sure to be on the look out for Moose as they start to explore the spring run off.
