Great North Woods Region Foliage Report

The leaves have fallen and the raking has begun in the Great North Woods region. Bare trees and snowy mountain summits are preparing the area for a long visit from Old Man Winter. This treasured part of the state is perfect for getting away from it all anytime of the year. Why not plan a getaway now before the holidays? Find a secluded cabin, warm up next to a roaring fire, take a relaxing hike, or just sit by a window and watch for wildlife to visit. The beautiful scenery and natural surroundings up here will make you feel as if you’re in a different world. Once the snow flies, try snowshoeing, dog sledding, snowmobiling and cross country skiing.
