Lakes Region Foliage Report

The leaves have fallen and the temperatures are dropping in the Lakes region. There are over 273 lakes and ponds in this area, suitable for winter activities like ice skating, snowmobiling, ice fishing and ice sailing. There’s nothing like being propelled in a sailboat across a frozen lake at 100 miles an hour to get your heart pumping! For those who prefer standing still, the Great Rotary Fishing Derby promises fun on New Hampshire’s Lake Winnipesaukee in Meredith. This event takes place in February, and even if you’re not a fisherman, it’s still interesting to see the fishing shanties, constructed in all shapes and sizes. For information, please visit www.meredithrotary.org. Skiing and other winter sports are all available in this region, also. The snowy mountain peaks surrounding the frozen waterways provide perfect scenery for whatever you do!
