Government shutdown information

Travel and tourism in New Hampshire has been largely unaffected by the government shutdown. Nearly all attractions and recreation areas remain open and fully operational.

The following sites are open to the public:

  • Most New Hampshire State Parks day-use parks and campgrounds, check operating schedule.
  • White Mountain National Forest trails, roads and recreation areas.  Any area that does not have a gate is open and accessible.
  • Privately run campgrounds statewide, visit the NH Campground Owners Association to find a campground.

The following sites are currently closed:

  • Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site
  • White Mountain National Forest ranger stations and offices
  • White Mountain National Forest restrooms. Visitors should plan accordingly and use restrooms at our Welcome and Information Centers prior to entering the national forest.
  • White Mountain National Forest backcountry campgrounds.
  • Any White Mountain National Forest parking lot that has a gate has been closed, and Lincoln Woods and Zealand Road have gates that have been closed.
