Monadnock Region

This tour of "Currier and Ives" country will begin and end in the city of Keene, in the southwest corner of the state. Begin by traveling Route 101 east to Route 124 south for a drive around Mt. Monadnock, the single most climbed mountain in the world, which dominates the Monadnock Region.

In Jaffrey travel Route 202 south, then Route 119 east and on to Cathedral Road to the Cathedral in the Pines in Rindge. This unique landmark, overlooking Mt. Monadnock, is recognized by the United States Congress as a memorial to all American service people
(1 hour).

Stop for lunch in Fitzwilliam at a quaint inn with views of Mt. Monadnock in the distance. Travel west on Route 119 to Route 32 north to Swanzey for a photo stop at one of the four covered bridges in the area (15 min.). Return to Keene for an afternoon of shopping at the Colony Mill Marketplace.
