Attractive brick house, built in 1837 for Obadiah Smith and occupied by five generations of his family for 133 years. Birthplace and childhood home of Dr. George Hoyt Whipple, winner of Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1934. Given by Dr. Whipple to the Town of Ashland in 1970 for use as a historical museum operated by the Ashland Historical Society.
