North Country Center for the Arts in Lincoln, NH, founded in 1986 and incorporated in 1987, is a 501 (c) 3 charitable non-profit arts organization supporting the arts in northern New Hampshire. At present, the NCCA operates two community theater groups (the Playhouse Players for all ages and Jean's Teens for young local performers) during the winter and spring seasons while the 27-year old professional Papermill Theatre and Children's Theatre companies perform during the summer and fall. The NCCA operates from the beautiful new Jean's Playhouse, complete with a climate-controlled, 260-seat auditorium- opened July 1, 2012. The Papermill Theatre company produces Broadway plays and musicals; these productions have developed a reputation for a high level of artistic performances in respect to acting, costumes, and lighting and set design. The Children's Theatre company, during an eight week summer season, travels to seven communities in NH, performing adaptations of well-loved fairy tales. These performances are presented in partnership with other arts organizations that host the shows in their local communities.
