On the fourth Saturday of each month join other families for a hike. Whether your family is new to hiking or seasoned hikers, this is a fun way to get outside and explore. All of these hikes are on SLA trails and if you hike all 50 miles of trails then you can become a Squam Ranger! Click here to learn more. Every hike will begin with a discussion of how we can all stay safe and have fun (especially in the winter!). This month's hike will take place at Whitten Woods! This easy loop hike is 1.9 miles round-trip, with some beautiful views of Little and Big Squam Lakes. We will take our time, follow the children's curiosities, and enjoy being outside. Program end time is somewhat flexible, as it is dependent on weather conditions and the group’s hiking speed. Since hikes are weather dependent, we will contact those who have signed up if plans change. What to Bring: Participants should bring appropriate clothing, extra layers, comfortable water resistant shoes for hiking, water (maybe even a thermos of your favorite warm drink), snacks and snowshoes and/or micro-spikes depending on conditions. The SLA can provide snowshoes for up to six participants. Audience: All are welcome, and parents with children are especially encouraged! Children must be accompanied by an adult. Location: Meet at the Squam Lakes Association, then carpool over to the Whitten Woods trailhead. SLA is located at 534 US Rt. 3 in Holderness. Registration: Registration is required. Space is limited to 12 people. Register here: https://www.squamlakes.org/2020-winter-adventure-ecology-registration#overlay-context=2019-fall-adventure-ecology-registration
