From springtime daffodils to summer fields full of sunflowers, be sure to include these colorful events on your New Hampshire road trip.
Lupines in a field

From the first signs of spring to the height of summer, New Hampshire bursts into color with blooms worth planning a trip around. Whether you're chasing roadside daffodils, looking for fields of lupine, or soaking in the golden glow of sunflower season, there’s no shortage of picture-perfect moments. Hit the road and discover where to find some of the Granite State’s seasonal blooms, while enjoying them responsibly so they can be appreciated for years to come.

Daffodils in Dunbarton, Goffstown, Weare and New Boston

Late April – Early May

As winter fades, daffodils are among the first signs that spring has arrived in New Hampshire. In the town of Dunbarton thousands of cheerful yellow and white blooms line the landscape. The stunning display is the result of a decade-long community effort led by the Dunbarton Garden Club, which planted more than 100,000 bulbs in celebration of the town’s 250th anniversary in 2015. Today, it’s a must-see spring tradition. Enjoy a scenic drive along the John Stark Scenic Byway as you look for blooms through Goffstown, New Boston, and Weare, too.

Lupine Season in the White Mountains - Franconia, Sugar Hill

Late May – Mid June

Few sights capture early summer in New Hampshire like fields of blooming lupine set against mountain backdrops. In the towns of Franconia and Sugar Hill, rolling fields transform into a sea of purple, pink, and blue. Check out the Celebration of Lupine and Harman’s Cheese & Country Store, for suggestions of the best viewing spots. Be sure to bring your camera and as you explore a reminder to be wildly responsible, stay on paths and respect private property to help preserve these iconic landscapes for others to enjoy.

Rhododendron State Park - Fitzwilliam

Early to Mid-July

Step into a sea of blooms at Rhododendron State Park, home to the largest native rhododendron grove in northern New England. Spanning 16 acres, this unique natural display features thousands of pink and white blossoms at peak bloom. Time your visit with the flowering season for the most vibrant experience and explore the park’s wildflower trail for even more seasonal beauty.

Sunflower Festival – Lee

July 26 – August 3

Nothing says summer quite like sunflowers in full bloom. At Coppal House Farm, the annual sunflower festival transforms the fields into a golden sea of oilseed sunflowers. This short but spectacular bloom lasts only about 10 days, making timing to visit key. Beyond the beauty, the festival also gives back to several local organizations including Make-A-Wish New Hampshire.

Sunfox Farm Sunflower Bloom Festival – Concord

August 8 – 16

At Sunfox Farm in Concord, summer stretches as far as the eye can see with acres of towering sunflowers in bloom. Their annual festival offers more than just stunning views, think live music, local vendors, and food trucks that make for a lively, family-friendly outing. Stroll the fields, pose for pictures, and soak up all the vibrant energy of peak sunflower season.
