Franklin Pierce Homestead Historic Site

Overview

Built in 1804 by Pierce's father, the early home of America’s 14th President reflects the gracious and affluent living of the 19th century. National Historic Landmark. Guided tours, gift shop, restrooms and picnicking. Franklin Pierce Homestead State Historic Site is operated through the assistance of a partnership with the Hillsborough Historical Society. Built by Pierce's father in 1804, is a spacious and beautiful, federal style country home. A ballroom, which extends the entire length of the second floor, was used for entertaining neighbors and distinguished families of the state and nation including Daniel Webster, who's dedication to national unity and led our country during the most trying of times, the time of slavery was shared by Franklin Pierce. Private tours & large group tours, both coinciding & outside the public hours & months, can be arranged. The Pierce Homestead is available, at a fee, for small private functions & meetings.
