Tokyo Japanese Sales Mission with DNE, Tokyo, Japan 2/10-2/17/2018
The New Hampshire Division of Travel and Tourism Development (DTTD) traveled to Tokyo, Japan to participate in Discover New England’s sixth annual Japanese sales mission. Prescheduled meetings were held with the US Embassy and twelve tour companies to increase group and FIT travel offerings to New Hampshire. In 2016, Japan was the fourth largest overall source of inbound travelers to the United States, attracting 3.58 million visitors. Activities of particular interest to this market include foliage tours, light hiking, attractions that are rare or unique, culinary experiences and niche travel such as quilting, photography and garden tours. American Bus Association Annual Convention (ABA), Charlotte, NC 1/26 – 1/30/2018 Download Leads
About 20 delegates from New Hampshire representing different regions, hotels, attractions, receptives, and transportation companies traveled to Charlotte for the ABA Annual Convention to meet with tour operators planning group tours. During the convention, New Hampshire managed an exhibitor booth, participated in 40 one-on-one prescheduled appointments, and attended seminars. Click here for more.

The New Hampshire Division of Travel and Tourism (DTTD) traveled to San Antonio to participate in the National Tour Association Travel Exchange from December 14th- December 17th, 2017. DTTD attended this annual conference for the first time and found it to be the strongest Canadian trade show that the state has had representation. Though Quebec buyers made of the majority of the state’s 35 leads, a significant percentage of the leads are from Ontario based companies. There is strong interest in building on product for short trips to New Hampshire.

The New Hampshire Division of Travel and Tourism (DTTD) traveled to New York City to take part in a Japanese sales mission. Three of New York City’s largest Japanese receptive offices were invited to attend a luncheon organized by Discover New England. This was an excellent opportunity to discuss itinerary planning and Group/FIT travel to New Hampshire.

American Bus Association Annual Convention (ABA), Cleveland, OH 1/14 – 1/17/2017 Download Leads
 DTTD participated in a full appointment schedule; a total of 52 meetings. There were many additional tour companies who came to DTTD’s booth specifically to gather information for new tours. Of the 52 meetings that took place, 12 tour operators urgently want to launch new tours and series to New Hampshire. The majority serves preformed groups and about half have retail programs. World Travel Market (WTM) with Discover New England, London, UK 11/7-11/9/16 Download Leads
UK’s largest travel industry event, had a joint record total number of 51,444 un-audited attendees which was an increase of 4% over the 2014 figure of 49,275. When broken down further, visitors excluding press, ministers, ministers’ aides and students stood at 31,951, 5% more than 2015. Ontario Motor Coach Association (OMCA), Niagra Falls, Canada, 10/31 - 11/2/16 Download Leads
 DTTD held appointments with 29 tour operators. This was an increase from the prior year’s 18 appointments. Many Canadian tour operators reported that 2016 continued to present challenges in trips to the United States due to the increasing USD exchange rate. Many also reported that they feel the exchange rate will eventually shift and continued to plan ahead for 2017 and 2018 travel.

 Over 10,000 exhibitors from over 187 countries– more than two-thirds of whom came from abroad – were represented in 26 halls which were booked to capacity. some 120,000 trade visitors travelled to Berlin and 50,000 visitors came on the weekend to find out about the wide-ranging information on offers from exhibitors and providers of niche market products. OMCA has slowly and steadily grown in importance for New England over the past several years; however, about 30% of tours to the United States have been cancelling due to the dollar exchange rate.
