Overview

NH Theatre Project presents Aftermath, as part of its award winning Elephant-in-the-Room Series: An evening of community dialogue around the challenges faced by first responders and their families.

This November, NH Theatre Project will be touring their presentation of Aftermath around the state of NH. In the spirit of NHTP's Elephant-in-the-Room Series, the event features a short play-reading followed by a facilitated discussion between the audience and a panel of experts, highlighting the issues and challenges brought up in the play.

The Play Reading (40mins):
Aftermath, written by Tim Barretto, is the story of one firefighter wrestling with the emotional fallout and psychological burden that weigh him down after responding to a tragic accident. The play shines a light on the ways this incident affects his life, and the ripples it causes in his family and colleagues.

The Discussion (45min):
After the play is read, one of NHTP’s Artist-Facilitators guides the audience in an interactive discussion of the play’s themes along with a panel of subject matter experts (mental health professionals, first responders, community leaders, etc). We lean into fostering supportive and constructive dialogue around these important, difficult, and often ignored issues.
