Bug by Tracy Letts
Overview
Cue Zero Theatre Company continues its mission of producing bold, thought-provoking theatre with its upcoming production of Bug by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Tracy Letts. Running May 1–3, 2026, this gripping and unsettling drama invites audiences into a world where reality itself begins to fracture.
Set in a rundown Oklahoma motel room, Bug follows Agnes, a lonely waitress, and Peter, a mysterious drifter whose intensity quickly spirals into something far more dangerous. As paranoia takes hold, the pair become entangled in a chilling web of conspiracy and obsession. What begins as connection descends into psychological chaos, blurring the line between truth and delusion. Raw, claustrophobic, and deeply human, Bug explores themes of isolation, trauma, and the desperate need for connection in an increasingly unstable world.
The production is directed by Kaiti Maddox, with fight choreography by Matt Brides and intimacy direction by Meredith Carver, ensuring both the physical and emotional demands of the piece are handled with precision and care. Maddox, in her directorial debut, is passionate about bringing this piece to audiences, commenting "this show has only gotten more relevant since its release in 1996.”
The cast features:
Agnes – Christina Kelly
Peter – Alex Jozitis
R.C. – Maurisa Charest*
Goss – Sam Deans*
Dr. Sweet – Todd Bubier*
*Denotes Cue Zero debut
Bug is presented by special arrangement with Broadway Licensing, LLC, servicing the Dramatists Play Service collection.
Known for its commitment to challenging material and emerging artists, Cue Zero Theatre Company continues to push boundaries with productions that engage, unsettle, and provoke conversation. Bug promises to be an intense theatrical experience not for the faint of heart.
