Overview

Selwyn Birchwood, a dynamic blues guitarist and vocalist, is known for electrifying live performances, where his “magnetic personality” and soulful guitar licks captivate audiences. Born in Orlando, Florida, in 1985, Birchwood’s blues journey began after discovering Jimi Hendrix and seeing Buddy Guy perform, which sparked his deep connection to the genre. At 19, he joined blues legend Sonny Rhodes, learning not only music but the business side of being a successful musician. Birchwood formed his own band in 2010, and after winning the 2013 International Blues Challenge, his career took off. His 2014 debut album Don’t Call No Ambulance received critical acclaim and won multiple awards. Birchwood’s 2021 album Living In A Burning House hit #1 on the Living Blues Radio Chart and earned him the BMA Song of the Year Award. Now, with his latest album Exorcist, Birchwood aims to “make you dance and think,” as he continues to tour globally.
