Where the Locals Go

Trying to figure out a definitive list of the best restaurants in North Conway area might be impossible. The area is so jam packed with quality eateries that it would be unfair to limit the culinary options to the confines of a top 10, or even top 15.

What we can do is tap New Hampshire residents in North Conway and beyond for some of their favorites. We put the question out there: “Where do you go again and again?” What we came up with is the start of the conversation, but we hope that you will help us fill in the gaps.

 Moat Mountain

This place came up almost unanimously in our polling of the area's best eatery. Their legendary brisket pops up again and again on the menu, including on top of their amazing Long Horn Nachos. Both their beer and food menus are packed with New Hampshire breweries and food purveyors—including their house beers and barbecue sauce.

Glen Junction Family Restaurant

All aboard the flavor train! This locomotive-themed family restaurant piles it on high for breakfast and lunch. Gotta get there early, though, since they shut it down at 3:00 p.m. daily. For breakfast, we're told the Specialty Omelet section has something for everyone and the seasonal lobster rolls are legendary.

Another gem that focuses on breakfast and lunch, Peach's also features outdoor table service when the weather is favorable. Come for the crepes, stay for the steak and cheese!

The Red Fox

The perfect post-Storyland stop, The Red Fox features five different dining rooms, each with a varied personality. The crown jewel for run-down parents looking to recharge is The Kids' Room, where the little ones can hit the toy box or catch a showing of Shrek within eyeshot of the bar.

 White Mountain Cupcakes

Grab yourself something sweet at White Mountain Cupcakery. In addition to winning Food Network's Cupcake Wars, this pastry powerhouse pumps out confectionary creations to satisfy your sweet tooth. Have fun snacking your way through a menu with names like “Chocolate Avalanche” and “Refreshing Lemon.” Be sure to stop by on Wednesdays and Sunday...the only days that THESE are available.

The Met Coffeehouse

Cafe, coffee roaster, creperie, gelateria...The Met does many things. And does them well. Cool off with a cone of your favorite frozen treat or amp up with a latte from the barista. The crepes are awesome too!

Well, like we said, that's a start. Tell us what we're missing!
