534 US Route 3
Holderness, NH 03245

Hike the 5-mile Percival/Morgan Loop with outstanding views of Squam. We will start at the Mt. Percival Trailhead, which ascends gradually and then climbs a steep pitch to the summit. After soaking up the views we'll hike along the Crawford-Ridgepole Trail to Mt. Morgan for more views. On the decent there is the option to climb down rock ladders & through a boulder cave, or you can avoid the ladders by taking the trail down. The Mt. Morgan Trail eventually intersects with the Morse Trail that leads back to the Mt. Percival Trail parking area. Although hikers may be familiar with the trails around Squam Lake during the summer, fall hiking in the region can provide a different perspective, and new appreciation, of the area. As a Squam Rangers hike, this program is aimed at hikers who are interested in completing all of trails in the Squam Lakes network. However, we encourage anyone interested in a more challenging excursion to join us on this guided hike, and get the opportunity to experience the natural beauty of the Lake during fall. In addition, there are a number of new and ongoing opportunities for members of the community to get involved in the conservation of the watershed. Participants will get to hear about the conservation work being done around Squam Lake, and ways that they can get involved in the coming months as they hike up to the summits. What to Bring: Participants should bring appropriate clothing, water, food, and snowshoes and/or micro-spikes depending on conditions. The SLA can provide snowshoes for up to six participants. Audience: All ages, experienced hikers willing and able to hike 5 miles in wet, possibly icy/snowy conditions. Location: Meet at the Mt. Percival Trailhead located to the north of NH-113, 5.7 miles northeast of US-3 in Holderness and 5.9 miles west of NH-109 in Sandwich. Registration: Registration is required. Space is limited to 12 people. Register here: https://www.squamlakes.org/2019-fall-adventure-ecology-registration#overlay-context=2019-fall-adventure-ecology-registration
