Candlelight Stroll Under the Stars

An outdoor-only experience to be held in rain, snow, or starlight. Tickets are limited. Masks required and COVID-19 protocols followed.
About the event:
Every year since 1979, Candlelight Stroll at Strawbery Banke has captured 350 years of seasonal and holiday traditions against the backdrop of the museum’s historic houses. For the second year, Strawbery Banke presents “Candlelight Stroll Under the Stars,” focusing on the lights, wreaths, roleplayers, and magic on the exteriors of the museum’s historic buildings.
The museum grounds glow with hundreds of lighted candle lanterns, and house doors and railings are adorned with handmade decorations crafted from live greens and dried flowers and herbs collected from the museum gardens. Visitors stroll along candlelit pathways and are greeted along the way by costumed roleplayers and performers who recreate the traditions of times past.
Be sure to catch Ice Dance International's Vintage Skaters as they perform at various times in the evening at Labrie Family Skate at Puddle Dock Pond! Additionally, enjoy an old-fashioned holiday shopping experience at Pickwick's at the Banke, the Museum store.
Strawbery Banke’s Candlelight Stroll is an anchor for the Vintage Christmas in Portsmouth holiday celebration, along with The Music Hall, Chamber Collaborative of Greater Portsmouth, and the City of Portsmouth. Come to Candlelight Stroll and see why Travel + Leisure magazine calls Portsmouth “the Christmas capital of North America.”

Adults: $20
Children (ages 5-17): $10
Children (under 5): free, ticket required
COVID-19:
Strawbery Banke Museum continues to monitor circumstances surrounding the pandemic and the guidance of the CDC, state and local health officials. Please review the Museum's COVID-19 precautions before visiting. Note: All visitors and employees regardless of vaccination status attending Candlelight Stroll Under the Stars are required to wear a mask covering the mouth and nose. If you don't have your own mask, Strawbery Banke Museum can supply one at no cost.
Parking:
There is NO onsite parking for Candlelight Stroll Under the Stars as the Museum's parking lot is reserved for those with handicap accessible plates or hangtags only. Visitors are encouraged to try nearby offsite parking options including Portsmouth's two parking garages:
Hanover Street Garage (near Market Square)
Foundry Place Garage (near Sheraton, Residence Inn, Fairfield Inn & Suites)
Skating:

Cancellation Policy:
Due to the limited capacity of this event, there can be no refunds. Additionally, Strawbery Banke is unable to accommodate requests for purchased tickets to be transferred to a different date.
