2020 Year in Review

A look back at the programs, marketing efforts, and other tourism initiatives spearheaded by DTTD in 2020.
January
  • Launched the Winter 2020 campaign, which continued to leverage LIVE FREE. The campaign provided a call to action around both soft and adventurous activities.
  • DTTD participated in the annual NYTTS, coordinating the NH booth which included several NH tourism partners.
  • DTTD managed an exhibitor booth and participated in 48 prescheduled appointments with tour operators who specialize in group tours at American Bus Association’s Annual Conference.
  • DTTD represented New Hampshire in the Discover New England booth during the Holiday World Consumer Show in Dublin, Ireland.
 
February
  • DTTD attended appointments with tour operators at the Aer Lingus Roadshow in Belfast, United Kingdom, and Dublin and Cork, Ireland.
  • DTTD attended the Visit USA Australia Expo show series which included agent trainings and trade shows in Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney, Australia.
  • DTTD attended 20 Business to Business appointments with Australia and New Zealand’s top tour operators at Brand USA’s Business to Business Marketplace.      


March
  • Paused all marketing efforts mid-March due to worldwide pandemic.
April  
  • Developed COVID-19 marketing campaign with the objectives of:
    • Keeping audiences engaged and maintaining relevance
    • Supporting local NH tourism businesses
    • Providing travel inspiration for future trips to NH
  • Initiated a series of webinars in an effort to keep industry members informed and up-to-date on the Division’s response to COVID-19.

May
  • Participated in efforts around US Travel Associations Nat’l Travel and Tourism Week, culminating with this video thanking NH’s Tourism industry for all they do to keep the spirit of travel alive in the Granite State.
  • Launched COVID-19 Social Media Program which involved developing content for VisitNH.gov as well its social channels highlighting:
    • Virtual experiences
    • NH Restaurant and beverage curbside pickup and delivery
    • Online shopping at NH small businesses
    • Iconic NH landmarks via Flashback Friday

 
June 
  • Launched 2020 seasonal summer campaign, introducing the creative platform “Discover Your New,” to New Hampshire residents encouraging them to staycation. While the out-of-state campaign messaging focused on the “dream” phase of vacation planning and thinking about visits to the state in the future.
  • DTTD attended 25 Business to Business appointments with North American Tour Operators during Travel Alliance Partner’s Virtual TAP Dance Conference.
  • Launched Stronger Together Campaign, aimed at generating awareness among NH residents on the role we have to support each other, our communities, and small businesses to get through COVID-19.
  • Kicked off a new monthly series: Granite State Trivia with Live Free with Kris on VisitNH’s Facebook.

July
  • Launched the Don’t Go Viral Campaign. The campaign framed the messaging of wearing masks and social distancing and following COVID-19 safety protocols in a simple and relevant way.


August
  • Introduced the Open NH Website – encouraging New Hampshire businesses to share their hours and any services they have available.

 
September
  • Launched 2020 seasonal fall campaign, continuing to leverage “Discover Your New,” platform to New England residents.
  • Extended the Don’t Go Viral Campaign to coincide with college students returning to campus.
  • Assisted with the management of CARES Act funding, which provides money to Chamber collaborations around the state to assist with COVID related services or recovery expenses for their region.

October
  • Adapted the Live Free with Kris fall video series to continue highlighting leaf-peeping conditions around the state, including the Great North Woods, White Mountains, Lakes and Seacoast Regions.

  

November
  • DTTD participated in 24 virtual appointments with tour operators from the UK, Ireland, Germany.
  • New Hampshire attended Brand USA France’s Virtual Travel Week, 15 tour operators attended.
  • Released latest in the How I Live Free Series, highlighting Hart’s Turkey Farm.
  • Launched newly redesigned VisitNH.gov, aimed at making content more visually engaging as well as more easily accessible to users.



December
  • New Hampshire participated in a Virtual Destination Seminar followed by Business to Business sessions with 20 agents from JATA in Tokyo.
  • Released next video in How I Live Free Series, this one highlighting Santa’s Village.
  • Relaunched the Don’t Go Viral campaign, to coincide with the holiday season and the potential of travel as well as holiday gatherings.
