MUD Season – Making Unique Discoveries

MUD Season FAQs

MUD Season is a spring tourism campaign that highlights authentic, behind-the-scenes, and early-season experiences across New Hampshire. It encourages visitors to explore the state during Mud Season by discovering things they don’t usually see during peak travel months.

Anything that offers a unique, seasonal look at your business or community. Examples include:

  • A spring-only menu item or tasting
  • A behind-the-scenes tour or staff talk
  • Early access to a site or exhibit
  • A hands-on workshop or working-season visit

If it feels honest, seasonal, and discovery-focused, it likely fits.

No. Discounts are not required. MUD Season is about access, storytelling, and experience—not price.

Very little. We ask businesses to offer one simple MUD experience. Many successful ideas involve small tweaks to what you already do.

Yes, collaboration is encouraged. Joint experiences, shared weekends, or regional groupings are welcome and often have higher impact.

Paid promotion runs from mid-March through mid-May. Experiences can be offered at any point during that window.

Selected experiences may be included in:

  • VisitNH.org MUD itineraries
  • Paid digital advertising
  • Social and editorial content

Not all submissions are guaranteed placement, but all will be reviewed.

Simply complete the online MUD submission form, where you’ll provide:

  • A short description of your experience
  • Dates and availability
  • Optional images
  • Any partnerships or collaborations

That’s okay. If it highlights something guests don’t normally see and feels authentic to your business, we encourage you to submit.
